De babydeken voor mijn vriendin in Parijs is klaar. De baby is afgelopen vrijdag geboren (gefeliciteerd lieve M&E). Binnenkort gaan we op kraambezoek!


The blanket for the my friend's baby is finished. By the way, he was born last friday (congratulations dear M&E). In just a few weeks we will visit them!


En de deken voor de dame met de viool is klaar (heus, binnenkort foto's)!


And, the blanket for the lady with the violin is ready (I promise, pictures soon)!

Ik ben begonnen aan twee nieuwe projectjes: poncho's voor de beide meiden. Blauw voor de dame met de viool en roze-groen voor de kleine blonde prinses.


I started two new projects: ponchos for both girls. Blue for the lady with the violin and pink-green for the little fair-haired princess.

En ik experimenteer tussendoor ook graag een beetje.
And I like to experiment with new patterns.

welcome spring

We hebben het afgelopen weekend genoten van het mooie lente weer. Zon en lekker warm!



Last weekend we enjoyed the beautiful springweather a lot. Sun and nice temperatures.

De meiden hebben veel buitengespeeld, samen en met de buurjongens. De dame met de viool is zelfs gaat varen met de buurjongen in het water voor het huis.



The girls have been playing outdoors a lot, together and with the neighbours. The lady with the violin even went rowing with the boy next door in front of our houses.

Deze mooie boom staat in de tuin van het kantoor waar ik werk. Sterker nog, staat voor mijn raam. De boom was vorige week nog mooier, de bloemen beginnen nu alweer uit te vallen.



This beautiful tree stands in front of my office. I can see it from my window. Last week it was even more beautiful, this week it's already losing its flowers.

Ben ik, met de vorderingen van de deken voor de dame met de viool. Het schiet inmiddels aardig op, en wordt ook best mooi, vind ik. Dus, ik ben best blij ...

O ja, afgelopen maandag heb ik het babydekentje afgemaakt! Nog geen foto's, ook niet gemaakt nog, die komen pas als de aanstaande mama het dekentje heeft uitgepakt!

Ondertussen ben ik goed op stoom met de deken voor de dame met de viool. Gelukkig, eindelijk ...
En daarna, poncho's voor de meiden en nog veel meer plannen ...

easter 2010

Rustig paasweekend thuis:
- samen naar Blof geweest, wat een geweldig concert & avond!!
- eieren verstoppen en zoeken. Nou ja zeg, zelfs op tweede paasdag nog wat verstopte eieren ;-)
- kleren van de kleine dames uitgezocht: winter voor zomer vervangen, te klein weg en oude kleren van de dame met de viool die de kleine blonde prinses, nu ongeveer passen, geselecteerd


- lekker gegeten
- met de meiden naar het theater: 'De grote avonturen van kleine mol van Theater Terra'



Quiet easterweekend at home:
- been to the Blof concert together, wow, what a great concert/evening!
- hiding and searching for eggs the 'easter-bunny' (?) even hid some lost eggs for the second day ...


- selecting clothes for our ladies: changing winter for summer, too small is taken out and old stuff from the lady with the violin and which have to fit the little fair-haired princess by now are retrieved
- we've had nice dinners
- with the girls to the theatre: 'The great adventures of little mole' (Theater Terra)

frodo

Kijk, dit is Frodo. Het is vandaag precies 2 jaar geleden dat hij is overleden.

Frodo was een trotse, stoere, trouwe en vooral lieve kat. Mijn eerste kat.
Waar wij waren, was hij ook. Hoe laat het ook was en wat we ook deden.
Hij had er veel plezier in om in badkamers heel hard te staan miauwen, dat galmde zo lekker ...
Hij was gek op rauwe kip. Als we kip stonden te snijden voor het eten, konden we hem beter even buitensluiten tot de kip in de pan lag. En hij was verzot op garnalen. Het laatste wat hij gegeten heeft, waren ook garnalen. Hoe slecht ze ook voor hem waren ...

In januari 2008 werd Frodo opeens erg mager. Hij bleek slecht functionerende nieren te hebben. Op dieet, aan de medicijnen. Het hielp even, maar hij accepteerde het eigenlijk allemaal niet. Vooral omdat de twee andere dames wel gewoon mochten eten.
Vanaf half maart ging het steeds slechter met hem en op een gegeven moment hebben we hem laten eten wat hij wilde. Op 2 april heb ik garnalen voor hem gekocht en hij smulde ervan. De volgende dag was hij helemaal op en hebben we hem laten inslapen.

Eigenlijk mis ik Frodo nog iedere dag. Hij was een bijzondere kat. Mijn eerste kat, mijn beste vriend. 'Lolo' zoals de kleine blonde prinses hem noemde, ze was toen nog geen 2 en kon zijn naam niet uitspreken.
Lolo is nu een ster geworden.


Look at this cat, his name was Frodo. Today exactly 2 years ago he passed away.

Frodo was a proud, handsome, faithful and above all a very sweet cat. My first cat.
Where we were, he was. Whatever the time of day and whatever we were doing.
He enjoyed it a lot to meow in the bathroom, because over there it sounds so good en loud ...
He liked raw chicken a lot. If we were cutting chicken for dinner, it was better to put him in the hallway for a while until the chicken was frying in the pan.
And he just loved prawns. The last thing he ate were prawns. Although they were very very bad for him in his state ...

It was January 2008, Frodo got suddenly very skinny. His kidneys were in very bad shape. He got a diet and medicine. For a while it worked, but actually he didn't accept it. Especially because the two other catladies were allowed to eat everything.
In March he got worse and worse en finally we gave him everything to eat he wished for. April 2nd I bought him prawns and he liked it so much. The next day it was over for him, sick and tired. We went to the vet to put him to sleep.

Actually, I still miss Frodo every day, although he is gone for two years already. He was a very special cat. My first cat, my best friend. 'Lolo', like the little fair-haired princess always said, she had to turn 2 when he died and couldn't pronounce his name properly.
Lolo is now a star in the sky.

spring colors

Deze week kwam er weer een pakketje met garen:

A few days ago I received a package yarn:

• nog wat extra katoen voor de babydeken in wording, just in case ...


• some extra coton for the babyblanket, just in case

• en vast een verzameling blauw en wit voor een poncho voor de dame met de viool (de kleine blonde prinses is later aan de beurt met groen en roze, denk ik)


• and I chose a collection of blues to make a poncho with for the lady with the violin (next turn is for the little fair-haired princess with pink and greens I think)

Voorlopig kan ik weer verder.
I don't have to get bored.

Wat extra tot de verbeelding spreekt, is de zekere geheimzinnigheid die rondom Geronimo waart. De productie is enorm: echt veel delen per jaar, elke maand wel iets nieuws. En wie is nu toch de schrijver ...? Het verhaal gaat dat dit Elisabetta Dami is. Of is zij het brein achter het concept? Of is Geronimo toch echt?

Hoe dan ook, Geronimo fascineert mij inmiddels ook behoorlijk en ik ben snel bereid mee te werken aan de wens van de dame met de viool tot uitbreiding van de serie.





Zo trof ik mezelf vanmorgen al voor 9 uur aan bij het prijzencircus van de V&D, of all places op dat tijdstip ... Er worden nu zes delen, waarvan ze er maar één heeft, aangeboden voor minder dan de helft van de prijs. Een buitenkansje natuurlijk.

En, het lukte. De dame met de viool is 5 (6) delen Geronimo rijker en is er dolblij mee.


Adding to the fun of Geronimo
are some mysteries. First, the production is enormous, lot's of new titles in a year, every month at least two titles I guess. And second, who is the author ...? Rumour goes that this is Elisabetta Dami, the editor ... Another rumour is that she 'only' invented the concept ... But of course, the only one who knows, is Geronimo himself.






Anyway, I'm also quite fascinated by Geronimo by now, as you can read. And I'm quite willing to cooperate on the ladies wish to expand her very own collection.

So, this morning I found myself at 9 am in the morning at V&D's prijzencircus, of all places at this time. There is an action: six titles for a prices less than 50%. That is quite an opportunity of course.

And, I did it. The lady with the violin has now 5 (6) more titles of the series. And she is quite happy with it! Happy reading.

Ken je Geronimo Stilton?

Hij is uitgever van de Wakkere Muis, de krant die op Muizeneiland het meest gelezen wordt.
Hij is een muis, die graag een rustig leven zou willen leiden, maar steeds weer in spannende avonturen terecht komt. Meegesleept door zijn zus Thea en zijn neef Klem en zijn kleine neefje Benjamin.

Voordeel van die avonturen, is dat hij hierover boeken schrijft. En ook zus Thea is boeken gaan schrijven, die zijn wat meer gericht op meisjes. Geronimo is ook diverse klassieke verhalen gaan hervertellen en er zijn nog minstens twee spin-off series.

De dame met de viool is inmiddels helemaal verslingerd aan Geronimo en de zijnen. Het zal niet lang duren voor de kleine blonde prinses ook overstag gaat vermoed ik ...

De boeken zijn ook heel erg leuk. Leuke en goed leesbare verhalen, veel illustraties, weetjes, typografische grapjes en extra's. Ik vind het ook leuk om de boeken te lezen, om te weten wat onze dochter leest, maar ook gewoon omdat het leuk is.

Do you know Geronimo Stilton?

He is editor and journalist for The Rodent's Gazette, the number one selling newspaper in New Mouse City. Gernonimo is a mouse, who prefers to live a quiet life. But he always gets involved in wild and exciting adventures. Taken there by his sister Thea, his nephew Trap and his little favorite nephew Benjamin.

There is one positive side at having to survive the adventures and that is that Geronimo writes books about them. Sister Thea also started writing stories, which more focus at girls. Geronimo is also retelling several classic stories and there are at least two spin-off series.

The lady with the violin is totally into Geronimo and the other books. I'm afraid it won't take long for the little fair-haired princess to fall for the mouse ...

I have to admit, the books are very, very nice. The stories are fun and very readable, lots of illustrations, 'nice-to-know-thingies', typografical jokes and extras.

I also like to read them, to know what our daughter is reading, but also because it is fun.
