Dutch seaside blanket (1)




Een vriend gaat binnenkort naar Nepal. Hij heeft me gevraagd een dekentje op kinderformaat te maken en wil dat dan meenemen en daar schenken aan bijvoorbeeld een kindertehuis.
Een heel goed doel, wat ik graag wilde uitvoeren!

Hij vond het leuk als de kleuren een zekere link met Nederland zouden hebben, maar verder mocht ik het zelf weten.

En zo ontstond de Dutch seaside blanket: in twee kleuren geel voor het strand en de duinen, twee kleuren turkoois voor de zee en de lucht, zeegroen voor de diepe zee en het gras op de duinen en paars-roze voor de in de zee ondergaande zon. Zelf heb ik associaties met de Waddeneilanden.

Voor de deken heb ik tenminste 16 blokken nodig. Zijn dat er genoeg ...?



A good friend will travel to Nepal soon. He asked me to crochet a childrensblanket to take it with him and donate it over there to an orphanage for example.
I like the idea, I think it is a very good cause and of course I agreed in doing so!

He told me he'd like it when the colours of the blanket somehow are related to Holland. The actual choice was up to me.
And after some brainstorming, the Dutch seaside blanket got colour: two shades of yellow for the beach and the dunes, two shades of blue for the sea and the sky, sea green for the deep sea and the grass on top of the dunes and pink/purple for the sun which sets in the sea. The colours remind me of the Dutch islands (Wadden).

For the blanket I would need at least 16 squares. Will that be enough ...?
