4 simple goals for 2010, the end

A few months ago, back in August, I blogged about 4 simple and personal goals for the remaining months of 2010. Inspired by Elsie Flannigan (www.abeautifulmess.typepad.com) who did the same and invited her readers to join her in this 'challenge'.

I was enthousiastic and set 4 personal yet simple goals for myself. On the last day of 2010 I'd like to tell you how it went.




The fourth goal, to start with, was 'keeping in shape', since in summer I had -undeliberately- lost some weight. I joined in August the local sportscenter and I go there at least once, but most of time twice a week for an intensive workout. I join zumba-classes. And hey, I like it a lot, that's the most important.
So, goal 4 is accomplished.


Goal 3 was 'find a way to keep a daily diary'.
Somehow a bit inspired by the project 365 (with the daily pictures), I pick a picture everyday from my phone and write one or more lines with it. I also publish them at my other blog (www.everydailydiary.blogspot.com), and sometimes also over here. I intend to continue this, of course.
So, goal 3 also accomplished.


Goal 2 was 'start writing that book'.
Well, actually I started writing. But the end is not nearby. Luckily that was not the goal ...
But the biggest challenge for the future is to continue writing!
Goal 2 is partially accomplished, that's how I feel about it.



Goal 1 was 'continue to chochet and may be even start an Etsy-store'.
The last is almost realised. I have made some items, I 'just' have to take the step to list them ...

But hey, I crocheted a lot! Experimented with patterns, designs and different yarns. And I finished quite some projects:
• the ripple blanket for the little fair-haired princess
• the log cabin blanket for the lady with the violin
• a granny baby blanket for my friends' baby T, born in April
• the Dutch Seaside blanket, made for a friend to donate in Nepal
• the Babette blanket, given to my Love
• the mystery afghan
• the granny heather blanket

• several squares for SIBOL

• a colorful bag for myself
• a blue-white-purple bag for my mother in law
• several bags for my Etsy-store

• scarfs for myself and my daughters

And I started several projects:
• the soft coloured 64-square rainbow blanket
• the roses & daisies throw
• a rippled baby blanket
• african flowers
• sunburst grannies
• hexagons

And I am planning for my new dream: la Manta de Andalucia ...

So, how about me accomplishing this goal?

Zo zit ik dus soms (eh, dagelijks?) even op de bank met een golden doodle op schoot. Wat een schatje!


Well, sometimes (uh, almost everyday I'm afraid) I sit in the couch for a few minutes with a golden doodle. He is so sweet ...!!!

4 simple goals, update

Wow, blogpost nr. 102 already (I really missed out on 100 and then again on 101). My update on my four simple goals ... (two days late actually, I intended on writing it on the same date as the announcement, but that didn't work out as planned).

Remember, on August 13th I wrote here about how I got inspired by Elsie Flannigan and her project with four simple and personal goals before 2011.

Let's tell you about how every goal is doing right now ...



1 crocheting
Well, almost everyday I crochet ... I try doing it in my spare time between working, caring for the kids and getting enough exercise, etc.
It just is so much fun seeing projects grow and grow. I even did some designing on my computer, for blankets (now make them) and 'in real life' on some bags. I am trying to make some items for my Etsy-shop (which I still am dedicated to opening later this year.
So, it is partly making plans, partly making stuff. Fun to do and fun to think about. You never know what will happen later this year.

2 writing that book
Well, it is not good to talk and write about that a lot actually. I have a plan, I have a story in mind, I try to sit and write on a structural basis, but it takes lots of time (also). It is a long term project, not too simple actually, but hey, I made a start. That is good!

3 daily diary
May be you noticed it already. I seriously started something. I try to make a picture everyday, give it a facelift with a nice iPhone-app and post it on the blog with a few lines. I even started a special blog for those daily diaries ...: daily diary



4 keep in shape
Up till now I am quite happy with what I do.
I am a member of the local sports and health center (which luckily is just around the corner of our home). I try to go there at least once a week for Zumba-lessons (so much fun), and preferably twice a week. I even will try something else soon ...
The toughest challenge is keep on doing it ... But, since I have to pay for it every month, at least that motivates on going regularly ;-)


So, I think myself I am doing quite fine with my simple goals.

Gezellig aan het knutselen geweest met de kleine blonde prinses. We hebben een mooie ketting gemaakt voor haar.

9/9:
125 blokken aan elkaar gezet. Nu nog de finishing touch ...


I have joined 125 squares. Just a finishing touch is left ...


9/8:
Samwise wil graag even knuffelen. Sinds Dustin leeft ze vooral boven.


Samwise likes to cuddle. Since Dustin came with us, she mainly lives upstairs.

daily diary 9/7

Fantastisch, wat voor resultaat er al na 100 dagen pleisters plakken behaald is! We kunnen gaan afbouwen.


It's so great, the results after putting a sticker on the eye for almost 100 days now! From now on not everyday, but 4 days a week.

daily diary 8/31-9/2

9/2:
Toch fijn op zo'n regenachtige namiddag, die potjes met kruiden die ik in de vakantie kocht en herinneren aan zonnig Frankrijk.


Nice to see on a rainy afternoon: those herbs I bought during the holidays and remind me of sunny France.


9/1:
Een kantoordag. Maar wat een knappe 4-jarige hebben wij. Ze heeft gewoon de titel van 'mijn boek' overgeschreven ...


Just a day at the office. But just look at what our clever 4-year old did: she just wrote down the title of 'my book' ...


8/31:
Een vergadering in Den Haag. Om files te voorkomen, ben ik maar met de trein naar huis gegaan.


I had a meeting in The Hague. To prevent traffic jams in the late afternoon, I took the train home.

8/29: 'Waarom maak je nu weer een foto van ons?' De meiden lezen gezellig samen een boek in de bank op een regenachtige zondagmiddag.

8/30:Als de hond van huis is, pikt de kat zijn comfortabele kussen in ...

daily diary 8/27 & 8/28

8/27:
Haar eerste week in groep 5 zit er op. Het was best heftig, een extra lange woensdagochtend en nu ook op vrijdagmiddag naar school. En ook nog nieuwe vakken.


Her first week in the fifth grade (?, she is 8) is done. It was quite quite heavy: an extra long wednesdaymorning and from now in also to school fridayafternoon. Last but not least, several new courses too.


8/28:
We hebben vandaag Dustin in bad gedaan. Echt te hilarisch voor woorden, maar hij is wel lekker schoon!


Today we gave Dustin a bath, for real, in the bathroom. It was too hilarious to describe, but he is clean and fresh now!

daily diary 8/25 & 8/26

8/25:
Vandaag heb ik na 4,5 jaar eindelijk een van mijn internetvriendinnetjes ontmoet. Erg gezellig en we gaan het zeker vaker doen!


Today after 4.5 years I finally met one of my internetfriends. It was very nice and we will certainly repeat it! Thanks for a fun hour R.!!


8/26:
Het regende vandaag de hele dag, grauw en somber weer. Desondanks heb ik vanmorgen maar mijn meest zonnige jurk aangetrokken.


It was raining all day long today, a sad and gloomy day ... Nevertheless this morning I put on my most sunny dress.

simple goal 3: dialy diary 8/23 & 8/24

8/23:
De laatste dag voor Dustin met kap, vanmiddag mogen de hechtingen eruit. Het oog ziet er goed uit.


Dustins final day with hood, later this afternoon the stitches will be removed. The eye is looking good!


8/24:
De tweede schooldag, gelukkig zon en niet de regen van gisteren. En weer twee nieuwe juffen ... Even wennen hoor, al die nieuwe juffen ...


Second day of school, sun and not yesterdays horrible rain at the first day. And today again, two new teachers. I have to get used to four new teachers for our two daughters ...

simple goal 3: daily diary 8/22

Een uur aan het puzzelen geweest om alle 125 blokken van babette op de juiste plaats te krijgen. Ze nu nog aan elkaar zetten ...


It took me almost an hour to puzzle out the right place of all 125 babette-squares. I 'only' have to join them now ...

simple goal 4: keep in shape

O yes, I did it!!! I took a first step in my simple goal to keep in shape:
after two times a try-out lesson Zumba at the sportscenter nearby, today I registered myself as a 'member'. They offer the international Less Mill-program, with several interesting options (in which I of course have my preferences).

That means that, next to my weekly yoga-sessions which start again in two week, I have to go to the sportscenter at least once a week for Zumba (or may be later something else).

simple goal 3: daily diary 8/21

Als hond Dustin niet thuis is, gaat poes Simba uitgebreid op zijn kussen liggen (waar hij overigens nog nooit op gelegen heeft).


When dog Dustin is not at home, cat Simba is taking over his comfortable cushion (by the way, he has not used it yet).

simple goal 3: daily diary 8/20

Dustin met zijn kap die hij sinds de operatie aan zijn oog moet dragen. Hij wordt er helemaal gek van. Nog een paar dagen ...


Distin with the hood around his head, due to the surgery on his eye last week (I'll explain later). It is driving him crazy ... Just a few more days.
